Viking Girls Hang On For Win Over Adams Central, 53-47

(Grand Island, NE) - The Northwest girls' basketball team defeated Adams Central on Thursday night, 53-47. The Vikings trailed at the halftime break, 30-27, in what was a back-and-forth first half. 

Northwest would outscore the Patriots 15-7 in the third to hold a 42-37 lead at the end of the quarter. The Vikings held off a late comeback by Adams Central in the fourth, outscoring the Patriots 11-10 to secure the win in a game that saw a combined 44 free throws shot. 

Adams Central, with the loss, is now 5-7 on the season and will host Doniphan-Trumbull on Saturday. Northwest moves its record to 6-7 after suffering a loss Tuesday night to St Cecilia, 54-45. 

Northwest will be back in action on Tuesday, January 20th, at North Platte. Girls' game at 5:00 pm with the boys' game to follow at 6:30 pm. Listen live on 103.1 FM & 2dayfm1031.com.
