Trio of Huskers Honored by NABC

Kansas City – Pryce Sandfort, Rienk Mast and Head Coach Fred Hoiberg were honored Tuesday, as the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced All-District teams.

Sandfort was one of 10 players named to the NABC Central District First Team. Sandfort enters Thursday’s NCAA opener averaging 17.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. The junior wing set a school record with 113 3-pointers and has totaled 12 games of at least 20 points, including a trio of 30-point efforts.

Mast was named a second-team honors, as he is averaging 13.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. The 6-foot-10 senior ranks in the top three on the team in all three categories. He had 22 double figure efforts, including five games of at least 20 points.  It is the third time Mast has earned NABC All-District honors with the others coming in 2022 and 2023 when he was at Bradley.

Hoiberg was named Central District Coach the Year after guiding Nebraska to one of the best seasons in program history. Nebraska enters the NCAAs with a 26-6 record and finished second in the Big Ten with a 15-5 mark. NU has set or tied school marks in wins (26), conference wins (15) and conference road wins (seven) while starting the season with 20 wins and a 24-game win streak dating back to last season.

The All-District honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division I.  The Central District includes programs from Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska and Tennessee.
