Amendment to Stop Sweep of Veterans Fund Fails

FA1048 was one of several defeated amendments to the second budget bill at the legislature yesterday. The measure from Senator Victor Roundtree, would have prevented a cash sweep from the Veterans Services Fund. Among the fund transfers is 1.5 million from that fund, still leaving over 57 million in the account.
Grand Island Senator Dan Quick spoke three times in in favor of the amendment.

The vote was 20-20, five votes short of adoption. LB 1072 eventually advanced yesterday.
