#2 UNK Wrestling Easily Beats Sioux Falls and Newman

Kearney, Neb. – The second-ranked Nebraska Kearney wrestling team started a two-week home stand by easily defeating Sioux Falls, 35-6, and Newman, 46-6, Friday night at the Health & Sports Center.  ​

UNK (9-2, 1-0 MIAA) unveiled its latest National Championship banner prior to the win over the NU Jets (0-3, 0-1). To start the day, USF (5-5) bested NU, 34-20.

Using multiple reserves in both duals, the Lopers racked up four falls, six tech falls and three majors. They had 35 total takedowns against the Cougars and then 28 more in the Jets dual.

Among the many Lopers to go 2-0 were California redshirt freshman Alex Munoz (184 lbs.) and Omaha redshirt freshman Henry Reilly (174 lbs.) with David City redshirt junior Tre Daro (197 lbs.) having a tech fall vs. Sioux Falls. In the NU dual, top-ranked heavyweight Crew Howard dominated ninth-ranked Caleb Wunsch as he scored the first 10 points before recording a fall at 5:49. Finally, Bennington graduate Caleb Coyle (125 lbs.) started each dual with a victory and totaled 26 points.

UNK faces NAIA powerhouse Grand View (Ia.) Saturday at 1 p.m.
