Work will begin on North Road

May 13, 2025 (Grand Island, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work will begin May 19 on North Road at U.S. Highway 30 (US-30), according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

Werner Construction of Hastings is the contractor. North Road will be closed between US-30 and Westgate Road, including Stauss Road. The contractor will remove the existing North Road where US-30 will be realigned with the new 4-lane divided highway. Johnstown Road will be reopened prior to the closing of North Road. North Road will be closed for up to 60 days during the construction of the intersection.

Motorists are asked to use an alternate route during the construction of the new pavement. Traffic will be maintained on North Road with temporary traffic control barricades and signs.

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.
