Walk Off Winner! Grand Island Comes Back To Defeat Omaha Central

(Grand Island, NE) - Down 15-7 going into the bottom of the 7th inning, the Grand Island Senior High baseball team put their rally caps on and made an epic comeback win on Friday night at Ryder Park, downing Omaha Central 17-16 in 8 innings.

Grand Island scored 8 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to tie the game at 15 apiece. Omaha Central would then take a one-run lead in the top of the 8th, 16-15. Gage Gannon would end the game for the Islanders with a 2 RBI hit. Gabe Ruiz would score from first base to be the game winning run. 

Sam Schroeder, Grayson Sack, and Gabe Ruiz would each have five hits in the game to lead the Islanders at the plate. Gage Gannon would have 4 hits (2 home runs) and 5 RBI's. Schroeder, Dinkelman, and Sack would also hit home runs in the game. 

Grand Island is now 3-0 on the season and will be back in action Monday, March 31st, hosting Lincoln East (4-0) at Ryder Park. First pitch is set for 4:00 pm.
