UNK Kearney Loper Logo

(Chadron, NE) - The Chadron State Eagles hit six of their first 11 three pointers and had five score in double figures to down Nebraska Kearney, 87-71, Saturday night in Chadron.

This was the 183rd all-time meeting between the two with the Eagles now 3-4 and the Lopers falling to 1-5.

Chadron came in not shooting it great from downtown, but they couldn't miss early on and built a double digit lead they didn't relinquish. The biggest culprits were junior guard Treyson Neff (4 of 9) and senior guard Zy Wright (2 of 6) who combined for six of the Eagles nine threes on the night.

The Lopers, with six players out due to injury, shot just 28% in the first half but won the first half rebounding battle by a 23-18 margin. Getting big second half performances from guards Allen Taylor (Rogers, Ark.) and Ja'Bryant Hill (Duncanville, Texas), UNK trailed 57-48 with 10 to play before the Eagles spurted again. A dunk from 6-11 Division I transfer Darrius Miles made it 66-53 at the 7:57 mark and a bigger CSC squad was plus seven on the boards over the final 20 minutes.

Neff and Wright tallied 16 apiece to lead the way with Miles at 14 and D1 grad transfer guard Jalen Thomas making 7 of 11 shots to tally 15. He also grabbed seven rebounds with three others at six apiece. Finally, CSC sunk 24 of 29 free throws.

Taylor (8 of 19) and Hill (7 of 18) both went for 20 points with Hill getting close to a rare triple double (nine rebounds and seven assists). Taylor also had eight rebounds, three assists and two steals.
