Troopers Find Guns, Controlled Substances in I-80 Traffic Stop
October 31, 2025 (Grand Island, Neb.) — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested two people after finding multiple controlled substances and weapons during a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Hamilton County.
Thursday, at approximately 2:00 p.m., a trooper saw a Saturn SUV failing to maintain its lane on eastbound I-80 near Aurora, at mile marker 332. During the traffic stop, the trooper detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
Troopers searched the vehicle and located approximately 15 pounds of suspected marijuana, 1 gram of suspected methamphetamine, two handguns, and drug paraphernalia. The driver, Alfred Stewart, 68, of North Highlands, California, was arrested for possession of marijuana – more than one pound and possession of a firearm during a drug offense. The passenger, Tamesa Stewart, 50, of Sacramento, California was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were lodged in Hamilton County Jail.
