Railside Parking Panel Discussion Planned for Monday, July 22

Grand Island, Neb. — The City of Grand Island and Railside Business Improvement District is launching an initiative aimed at educating both the public and area businesses through a comprehensive free parking communication campaign.

On Monday, July 22, the general public is invited to a panel discussion titled "Railside: Your Downtown Parking Oasis." The discussion will kickstart the informational campaign and will be held in Meeting Room BC of the Grand Island Public Library from 5-7 p.m.

This interactive and informative panel discussion will bring together key stakeholders in the community to discuss the significance of free downtown parking and its potential impact on downtown Grand Island.
The panelists include:
• Mary Berlie // President – Grand Island Area Economic Development Corporation
• Sgt. Trent Hill // Grand Island Police Department
• Ofc. Caleb Schrock // Grand Island Police Department
• Amos Anson // President – Famos Construction Inc.
• Ed Klimek // Chief Building Official – City of Grand Island
• Brad Mellema // Executive Director – Grand Island Tourism

The panelists will participate in a moderated discussion addressing concerns, outlining benefits and unveiling strategic initiatives of the Railside free parking advantage. Following the moderated discussion, there will be an opportunity for the general public in attendance to ask their own questions of the panelists in a Q&A session. The event aims to generate excitement, educate the public about the Railside parking and build consensus among stakeholders.

"Having a community information campaign about our Railside parking district is really important, so we alleviate any of those anxieties, any of the frustrations that come with our free parking lots and our on-street free parking spaces,” said Grand Island Area Economic Development Corporation President Mary Berlie.

“What I want out of this panel discussion is for people to come ask questions,” added Amos Anson, the president of FAmos Construction Inc. and Railside Board Member. “It’s really, really easy to sit in the background and complain. Come ask us questions.”
