NSP Sees 36% Increase in Applications, Applications Open Until Friday

April 29, 2025 (Lincoln, Neb.) — The window is open again to join the Nebraska State Patrol in 2025. After a big increase in applications this year, NSP has reopened applications this week for the next training academy class, which begins in July. Apply at www.NebraskaTroopers.com.
“We had great response during our latest application window, with a 36% increase in the number of applicants,” said Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “Because of that tremendous response and continued interest since applications closed, we have opened applications again for a limited time to join our next camp.”
Applicants who apply by 11:59 p.m. CT, Friday, May 2, will still be considered for the next NSP training class, Camp 72, which begins on July 7, 2025. The recruits of Camp 72 are scheduled to graduate and earn the title of Nebraska State Trooper on December 19.
Troopers earn a starting salary of $32.45 per hour ($67,496 annually) upon graduation from the NSP Training Academy. Recruits are paid $28.85 during the academy process. Troopers also receive an excellent retirement plan, health, vision, dental, and life insurance, as well as free college tuition for you and your dependents at the University of Nebraska, state colleges, or community colleges.
The NSP Training Academy offers an extensive 24-week training program. Recruits go through numerous life-like scenarios and hundreds of hours of instruction to prepare them for a career serving Nebraska.
NSP offers the opportunity to serve in communities across the entire state of Nebraska. Each recruit will know their assigned duty station prior to starting camp, as NSP works to balance candidates’ duty station requests with the need to provide quality law enforcement coverage statewide. Applicants can get more information at NebraskaTroopers.com/DutyStations.
Applicants must be a United States citizen and at least 21 years of age by graduation, when they take the oath of office. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED equivalence.
