Northwest Softball Splits Action Saturday

(Omaha, NE) - The Northwest softball team split a pair of games on Saturday at the Omaha Skutt Catholic duals. The Vikings would down defending state champion Beatrice in game one of the day by a final score of 6-3. Gracylnn Simmons would have 10 strikeouts in the game, just allowing three hits and three runs over seven innings, only walking one. Simmons would also have two hits and two RBI's in the game. The Vikings would draw seven walks in the game. Northwest would have six hits and no errors in the game.
Game two, Northwest would fall to Skutt Catholic by a final score of 10-4. Becca Dinkelman would lead the way for the black and gold with three hits in four at-bats. The Vikings would fall into a 9-2 hole after four innings. Skutt would have a big fourth inning, scoring six runs. The Vikings would have 9 hits and 2 errors in the contest.
Northwest is now 2-1 on the season and will next travel to Hastings St Cecilia to take on the Hawkettes on Tuesday, August 26th. Listen live with first pitch at 6:30 pm on 103.1 FM & 2dayfm1031.com. St Cecilia comes into the contest with a 3-0 record, defeating Wahoo (5-1), Roncalli/Duchesne (13-1), and Lincoln Northwest (12-0) on Saturday in the Freeman Invite.
