March Traffic Fatality Toll

April 15, 2025 (Lincoln, Neb.) — During the month of March 2025, sixteen people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
¨ These 16 fatalities occurred in 14 fatal crashes.
¨ Eight of the thirteen vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, two were using a seatbelt, and three had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.
¨ Ten of the fatalities were in rural locations*.
¨ There were four fatalities on the interstate, six on other highways, and six on local roads.
¨ One of the fatalities was a pedestrian.
¨ Two of the fatalities were motorcyclists.

There were 22 fatalities in March of 2024.
Only 12 of the 42 vehicle occupants killed during 2025 were using seatbelts.
*The Federal Highway Administration definition for urban is an area with a population of 5,000 or more.
