Lexington Employment Assistance Offered for former Tyson employees

Nebraska Department of Labor

The Nebraska Department of Labor is providing in-person assistance to workers impacted by the closure of Tyson’s meat processing facility in Lexington.

Assistance is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every weekday at the Lexington and Grand Island offices with:
Registration in NEworks.nebraska.gov
Creating and posting an online resume (required for unemployment benefits), including workshops
Filing weekly unemployment claims
Job search

Workers will have the opportunity to complete an employment survey from the Department of Labor regarding job search needs. Health and Human Services staff will also be on hand at the Lexington office to answer questions about services and programs available.  Equus Workforce Solutions is also offering job search assistance to help serve individuals as quickly as possible.

The Department of Labor Lexington office is located at 1501 Plum Creek Parkway, Ste. 3. To reduce wait times, workers coming to the Lexington office for services should use the following schedule based on the first letter of their first name.

Unemployment applicants are not required to report in person for services and may utilize the self-service options at NEworks.nebraska.gov.  Instructions are available at https://tinyurl.com/mrywjmcj
In-person Lexington job center services schedule (first letter of first name):

“The Department is ready to assist workers as they enter the next phase of this transition period, and we are working to make the process as smooth as possible,” said Commissioner of Labor Katie Thurber.

Questions about unemployment insurance, other Department of Labor services, and the Department of Health and Human Services can also be directed to 308-407-1517.  Assistance with unemployment insurance, resume, and job search is available at all NDOL locations, listed here: https://dol.nebraska.gov/ContactUs.
