LB795 Dominates Debate at Unicameral

An amendment to LB795 dominated discussion at the Legislature on Wednesday. The amendment would bring fentanyl to the same level as other schedule 1 & 2 drugs when it comes to sentencing. AM2092 would bring fentanyl trafficking up to the same level as methamphetamine, heroine, and cocaine. 

Opponents claim that will increase the number of non-violent offenders in an already overcrowded prison system. District 35 Senator Dan Quick revealed that he has a son who has struggled with substance abuse for 25 years.

District 33 Senator Dan Lonowski spoke in support of the amendment and the underlying bill.

Debate took the entire morning session on Wednesday.
