LB669 Fails to Advance at Unicameral
LB669 failed to advance at the Nebraska Legislature. It would have updated the state’s informed consent statutory framework for abortion to ensure proper screening, evaluation, and assistance for instances of coercion, domestic violence, and human trafficking. The bill’s sponsor Tanya Storer took to the mic several times to try to get the needed support.
The vote for cloture was 31-15. Thirty-three votes were needed. From our region, senators Stan Clouse, Dan Lonowski,Loren Lippincott, and Fred Meyer voted in favor. Dan Quick was present, not voting.

Nebraska Catholic Conference Reacts to Failure of Pro-Life Legislation to Advance in the Nebraska Legislature
Lincoln, Nebraska - Marion Miner, Associate Director of Pro-Life & Family Policy for the Nebraska Catholic Conference, issued the following statement about LB669, legislation to protect victims of domestic violence and human trafficking, after it failed to advance from first round of legislative debate in the Nebraska Unicameral:
"By failing to advance LB669, a small minority of State Senators failed victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. The abortion industry has a cozy financial relationship with abusers and traffickers. LB669 is a simple, commonsense, pro-woman policy that requires abortionists to screen for domestic violence and trafficking, and give victims an opportunity to escape their tragic situation. But today those women will continue to be trapped by an industry that profits off their abuse."
