Laurent Earns All-MIAA Softball Honors
(Kansas City, MO) - Northwest graduate and current pitcher for Pittsburg State University, Ava Laurent, has earned second-team All-MIAA honors.
Laurent, a member of the 2022 Northwest Viking state softball state championship team, was a first-team All-MIAA performer last season and earns her second All-MIAA honors of her career. This season, she ranks 34th in the nation for hits allowed per 7 innings (5.09), 43rd for strikeouts per 7 innings (7.7,) and 46th for strikeouts (148). Overall, the right-handed hurler is 16-5 with a 2.55 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 134.2 innings of work as opponents hit .200 against her.
21st-ranked Pittsburg State softball is currently 37-13. The Gorillas are getting set to play in the MIAA tournament on Thursday, May 1st, hosted by Fort Hays State. Pittsburg State will play at 6:30 pm Thursday vs the winner of Missouri Western vs Nebraska-Kearney.
