Kearney Comes Back Late To Defeat Grand Island

(Kearney, NE) - In the challenging winds on Monday afternoon at Kearney's Memorial Field as the Bearcats rallied late to defeat Grand Island, 7-4. 

The Islanders would get two runs in the first and second innings as the Beacats would cut it to a one-run deficit, 4-3, with one run i the second and two runs in the third innings. The Beacats would claw back once more in the sixth inning, rallying for four runs to take a 7-4 advantage. 

The Bearcats would have their 7 runs on 7 hits and 1 error. Grand Island's 4 runs would come on 8 hits, and the Islanders would have 1 error in the game. 

With the win, Kearney moves to 8-6 on the season. Grand Island slips to 7-4. Both teams will be in the Heartland Athletic Conference tournament starting Tuesday, April 15th in Lincoln. Kearney takes on Lincoln Northeast at 2:30 pm. Grand Island will play at 3:00 pm on KRGI vs the winner of Fremont vs Norfolk.
