Huskers Extend Streaks in Sweep of Oregon

LINCOLN, Neb. - The No. 1 Nebraska volleyball team fought past Oregon for a 25-21, 25-20, 25-12 victory on Sunday in front of a crowd of 8,495 at John Cook Arena at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. 

Nebraska hit .405 and held Oregon to .162, as the Huskers improved to 22-0 (12-0 Big Ten). The Huskers have won 40 sets in a row and have swept 13 matches in a row. 

Taylor Landfair led all players with 10 kills and hit .400. Harper Murray added nine kills (.391) and nine digs, and Virginia Adriano had eight kills (.500) and three blocks. Rebekah Allick and Andi Jackson each had five kills with five and three blocks, respectively. 

Bergen Reilly dished out 26 assists with five digs. Laney Choboy had five digs and six assists, and Olivia Mauch had five digs and three assists. Teraya Sigler also had five digs. 

Nebraska had a 39-35 advantage in kills, 9-3 in blocks and 32-28 in digs. 

Set 1: Oregon held a 3-1 lead before Nebraska scored eight of the next 10 points to go up 9-5. The Ducks answered with a 5-1 run to tie the score at 10-10. Allick and Murray tallied kills for a 13-11 lead, but Oregon regained a 16-15 lead. An ace by Jackson and kill by Landfair put NU on top, 18-17. Adriano added a kill, and an ace by Sigler made it 20-18. Murray recorded a kill and a solo block for set point, and Jackson finished it off 25-21 with a kill.      

Set 2: The Ducks put forth another strong effort in taking a 12-11 lead. Jackson had a kill and Murray served an ace to help NU go up 14-12, but the Ducks went back in front, 17-16. Allick had a kill and a block with Adriano before Adriano added a kill, as the Huskers built a 21-17 lead after a 5-0 run served by Sigler. Murray pounded two more kills as the Huskers grabbed set point, 24-19, and the Huskers won 25-20.  

Set 3: Adriano had two kills, and Mauch served an ace as part of a 4-0 run that made it 5-1 Huskers. Landfair provided two kills and Allick another as Nebraska went ahead 9-4. A five-point run served by Reilly made it 23-11 Huskers with Adriano tallying a kill and two blocks with Allick, and Adriano and Allick finished off the match, 25-12, with kills. Nebraska hit .500 in the final set (15-1-28) and held Oregon to .037 (7-6-27).
