Grand Island Rally Falls Short At Millard South

(Omaha, NE) - The rally would fall just short on Thursday as Millard South would hang on to defeat Grand Island, 4-3. The Islanders would trail 4-1 in the top of the 7th inning with two outs. Junior Gabe Ruiz would knock a 2 RBI single, bringing in Ruether and Dinkelman to score. Broxton Barrientos would be the tying run at third but would be stranded after Gavin Haubold grounded into a fielder's choice out to end the game. 

Barrientos would lead the way for Grand Island with 3 hits and 1 RBI. Ruiz would end the game with 2 hits and 1 RBI. Ruiz would suffer the loss on the mound, going five innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs on 84 pitches. 

The Islanders are now 3-2 on the season and set to host Fremont on Friday, April 4th, and then host North Platte on Monday, April 7th.
