GI Home Federal Defeats Millard South In Come Back Fashion

(Hastings, NE) - The Grand Island Home Federal baseball team would mount a comeback on Friday afternoon to rally and defeat Millard South at Duncan Field by a final score of 12-11. 

Grand Island would trail by 10-2 going into the bottom of the 5th inning. GI would then score seven runs to just trail by one run, 10-9. Millard South would add a run in the top of the 6th to lead 11-9. Grand Island, then, would get the last say in the bottom of the 6th, as the game would be up against a time limit after starting just before 3:30 pm. Grand Island scoring one run to trail 11-10, would then be faced with two outs and get a 2 RBI base hit from Aldo Martinez to take the lead of 12-11, as the game would then be called, giving GI their 7th straight win. Martinez would get the hit down in the count 0-2. 

GI Home Federal would get two, two RBI hits from Aldo Martinez. Miles Nelson batted late in the game twice and had two hits and two RBIs. Sam Dinkelman would get one hit and an RBI. 

Gavin Ruether would get the win with two innings pitched in relief of Dyllan Hinrichs. 

GI will be back in action Saturday, July 12th vs Colorado Dirt Devils at 10:00 am followed by a 12:30 pm game vs Rapid City Hard Hats. Sunday, July 13th GI will play Millard North at 10:00 am. All three games will be played at Duncan Field in Hastings.
