Flood inspires local business to give back with help from Heartland United Way

Just over a week after Active Family Chiropractic & Acupuncture’s Diers Avenue location was left under water by historic rains in Grand Island, destructive and deadly flooding hit central Texas.
As Active Family worked to rebuild, they reached out to the Heartland United Way hoping to help others impacted by flooding.

As the Diers location reopened, Active Family collected a portion of their new patient exam fees in July and August for flood relief efforts.

“After experiencing our own flood this summer, we felt inspired to give back. Thanks to all of our amazing new patients, we were able to donate a portion of every new patient exam fee — totaling $4,700 — to support Texas communities impacted by the July 4th floods. Together, we can make a real difference,” Active Family staff said.

Heartland United Way utilized its connection to the United Way network to get the donation to United Way San Antonio and Bexar County’s United for Kerry County Fund. The fund is being used to provide long-term resources and support, including safe housing, food access, economic recovery, essential basic needs and more for the Kerr County community.
