Cats sweep Cardinals on Parent Night.

High School Volleyball on Thursday night saw a possible preview at the Lou Platte Conference Volleyball Tournament as the St. Paul Wildcats played host to Doniphan-Trumbull on Parent Night in St. Paul. 

The Cats got off to a hot start in Set 1 thanks to Seniors Katie Oakley and Carly Stepanek, The Wildcats pounced to an early 1-0 lead winning Set 1 25-13. 

The Cats were battle tested in Set 2 as the Red Birds didnt go down quietly into the night leading the bulk of the Set 23-21 and a clutch timeout by Coach Matt Koehn-Fairbanks sparked the Cats to be able to push and pull away in Set 2 25-23.

Set 3 saw St. Paul get off to a hot start scoring the first 6 points in the Set before D-T called a timeout and brought it to within 1 at 6-5. The Cats outscored their Lou Platte foe 19-12 from to earn a sweep on Parent Night.

St.Paul earns their 15th win of the year and will be in action this weekend at Wisner before facing the winner of Gibbon/Wood River Monday in the opening round of the Lou Platte Conference Tournament.

Carly Stepanek earns Runza MVP of the Game while Piepyr Klinginsmith takes home the Dugout Grill Dang Good Play of the Game. If the Wildcats make the Semifinals/Finals of the Lou Platte Tournament we will carry those games on Country 96.
