Cats fall short in C-4 District Title; Await fate for State Berth

St Paul Palmer Baseball

For the first time in school history the St. Paul/Palmer Cats played for a chance to go to the State Tournament. Standing in their way was the 20-6 Adams Central Patriots fresh off of their 6-1 victory over Fairbury last night.

The Cats loaded the bases up in the top of the first inning but Jake Reichstein was able to get out of a jam with a strikeout. SPP threw Christian Lemburg on the hill and was able to get a great start getting out of a jam in the bottom half of the inning.

Adams Central would strike first on a fielders choice to bring home 1st Baseman Hunter Nepple to take the early lead of 1-0 in the bottom of the 2nd. The Dam broke for the Cats in the 4th giving up 5 in the bottom of the frame. Adams Central picked up 3 extra runs in the 6th for insurance to take a 9-0 lead into the final frame. The Cats would snap the shutout in the top of the 7th with Colby Wood scoring the lone run for the Cats to round out the scoring at 9-1.

The Patriots improve to 21-6 punching their ticket to Omaha while St. Paul/Palmer falls to 10-8 and will await their fate to see if they will head to Omaha for the first time in school history.

State baseball starts on 5/17 in Omaha
