Buffalo County Sheriff's Office Receives Grant

The Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office has approved the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office for a selective traffic enforcement grant. The grant allows the Sheriff’s Office to utilize extra deputies for participation in the National Put the Phone Away or Pay mobilization. The extra traffic enforcement will be conducted April 7 – April 14, 2025, at various Buffalo County locations. Deputies will target all traffic violations with an emphasis on issuing citations for distracted driver violations. The objective is to reduce distracted driver fatal, A and B crashes by 18 percent from 685 (5 year rolling average in 2019-2023) to 562 by December 31, 2025, and by 26.3 percent by December 31, 2026.
