Bison earn road victories over St. Paul
The St. Paul Wildcats welcomed Lou Platte Conference Rival Central City to St. Paul Tuesday Night.
On the Girls side, Kevin Brandt and company had a tough challenge in front of them as the Lady Bison came into the contest with a record of 10-2. Central City got off to a hot start taking the first quarter 11-4. St Paul roared back in the 2nd to get close but a late 3 gave life back to the Bison as the Wildcats outscored Central City 10-8, the Bison held a 19-14 lead at halftime. Central City turned up the defensive pressure in the 3rd quarter using a 19-3 3rd quarter to run away with the contest leading 38-17 at the end of 3. The Bison closed out the 4th quarter on a 12-9 run to win the contest 50-26
Aubree Fitzgerald led the way for St. Paul with 13 points, Alli Dugan earned Runza MVP honors.
St. Paul falls to 5-8 on the year.
On the boys side the first quarter proved to be the deciding factor as Central City got off to a hot start taking the 1st quarter 17-7. St. Paul chipped away in the 2nd quarter using a 10-3 advantage to cut the deficit to 20-17 at the Half. The 3rd quarter saw a 9-9 split by the two teams to keep the score within 3 as Central City led 29-26 going into the 4th. St. Paul got to within 1 point multiple times in the 4th but couldnt grab the lead as Central City takes the 4th quarter edging the Cats 12-11 earning the 41-.37 victory
Levi Bader led the Wildcats in scoring with 16 points taking home Runza MVP Honors. The Cats now sit at a record of 4-9.
