Creighton Baseball Suffers 9-4 Loss to Utah

San Diego, Calif. -- Creighton Baseball dropped its third consecutive game at the Tony Gwynn Legacy Tournament on Sunday, February 22, falling to Utah 9-4.

The loss moved the Bluejays to 2-4 on the season, while the Utes climbed to 4-2.

The Bluejays jumped out to a 3-0 lead on two hits in the first as Utah starter Ryan Kittridge walked a pair, tossed a wild pitch and saw a pass ball allow a run to score.

Bluejay starter Eli Nissen was impressive over four innings, allowing just two runs on four hits.

Utah took the lead for good with six runs off the Creighton bullpen in the fifth. Bluejay southpaw Shane Curtin took the loss (0-1), surrendering four runs on three hits and a walk without recording an out.

Utes reliever Dylan Gazaway earned the win (1-0) with three innings of one run relief.

Ben North led the Bluejay attack with three hits, while Nate McHugh delivered two.

Creighton returns to the diamond on Friday, February 27 as the Bluejays begin play in the REV Texas Tournament against Tarleton State at 2:00 pm (CT).
