Aurora Clips Northwest Boys In Central Conference Semi's

(Hastings, NE) - Aurora and Northwest boys met up for the second time this season. This time it was a meeting in the semi-finals of the Central Conference Tournament at Adams Central High School. Aurora prevailed by a final score of 52-42. Aurora won the regular season matchup on December 21st 53-46.
Friday night's game would go back and forth between the two rivals. Northwest would have a 27-20 lead at the halftime break. Aurora would trail by nine points with 6:49 left in the third quarter. Aurora would then climb back into the game and tie the game at 31 all and then take the lead 33-31 with 1:03 left in the third. The Vikings would get a three-pointer from Jaden Brandt to take the lead34-33 with :37 seconds left in the third. Aurora would then recapture the lead 35-34 lead going into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Northwest would have a 37-35 lead with 5:02 left in the game. Aurora would then tie the game 37-37 and then hit a free throw to make it 38-37 and the Huskies would have the lead the rest of the game as Aurora would punch their ticket to the Central Conference Championship game on Saturday, February 1st at 5:00 pm vs Crete from Columbus Lakeview. The loss for Northwest moves the Vikings to 12-5 on the season. It was also their 7th straight loss to the Huskies. The two could meet up again in the sub-district round coming up in about three weeks. Aurora is now 15-2. Crete would defeat Adams Central in the second semi-final 55-51.
