
Northwest Soccer Teams Ready to Kick Off 2023 Season

(Grand Island, NE) - The Northwest soccer teams are getting set to start the 2023 spring season Tuesday as the Vikings travel to Kearney to take on the Kearney Catholic Stars. It will be a busy start for both girls' & boys' teams. After Tuesday the Vikings will head to Lakeview Thursday and then host Scottsbluff on Saturday.
The Northwest girls are coming off a stellar 2022 season. The Vikings finished with a 15-3 record and made it to the state tournament for the first time in school history falling to Scotus 5-1. The two regular season losses for the Vikings were to Scottsbluff & Scotus.
The Northwest boys also had a fantastic season a year ago going 14-4 and also made it to the state tournament in Omaha. The Vikings would fall to eventual runner-up Lexington in the first round of the Class B field. The three regular-season losses for the Vikings included defeats from Scottsbluff, Scotus, and Lexington.
