GI Home Federal Starts Season With A Win Over Hastings

(Grand Island, NE) - The American Legion baseball season is in full swing. Last night Grand Island Home Federal defeated Hastings Five Points Bank 7-6 in a back-in-fourth affair. Grand Island trailed 2-0 but came back in the bottom of the 1st to tie the game at 2-2. Grand Island would then take a 6-2 lead putting up four runs in the bottom of the 2nd. Hastings would then storm back scoring two runs in the 3rd and two more in the 4th to tie the game at 6-6. GI would take the lead for good scoring a run in the bottom of the 5th, 7-6. Hastings would threaten in the top of the 7th with runners at 3rd and 2nd. Cohen Nelson would come in and record three strikeouts to finish the game and end the threat to pick up the save. Dyllan Hinrichs would pick up the win with his four innings of relief after coming for starting pitcher Ethan Coslor. Grand Island Home Federal will be back in action tonight (May 24th) traveling to Kearney. The first pitch is set for 7:30 pm. Listen live on KRGI 1430/105.5 & krgi.com
